In his work, visual artist Marcel Pinas (Suriname, 1971) gives the endangered culture of his native Marowijne a second life. He does this through drawings, paintings, sculptures and (outdoor) installations, but also by creating facilities in Moengo and its surroundings where young people have the opportunity to develop themselves creatively. This broad interpretation of artistry makes him more than just an artist.
